When the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races at Daytona International Speedway on Saturday night one of the more popular cars on the track could be the No. 55 Toyota Camry driven by Brian Vickers.

Vickers will be driving a car honoring the Seminoles 2013 BCS National Championship football team.

Michael Waltrip Racing has a long history of fielding cars honoring NCAA National Champions and this weekend will be no different as the garnet and gold will be on Vickers car which was first unvealed in April for the Seminoles Spring Game.

“It’s cool.” said Vickers. “I don’t really follow enough other sports to be fanatical about any team, but I understand how big a deal this is for the school and for us to have the national champions on the car. Florida is my home state now and to be at Daytona with FSU is really a good thing. This was a great idea by Aaron’s, I hope this gets us a few extra cheers at driver introductions.”

Vickers drove a special paint scheme honoring the University of Louisville’s national championship basketball team at Kentucky Speedway last year. Aaron’s and MWR have honored Alabama and Auburn national football championships at Talladega Superspeedway four times since 2009.

In 17 races this season Vickers has five top-ten finishes and two-top fives. He finished 30th in the season opening Daytona 500.
