In terms of popularity Dale Earnhardt Jr. may be Superman when it come to NASCAR. Earnhardt Jr. is an 11-time winner of NASCAR’s most popular driver award and on Sunday he will driving a blue car with Superman on it as he looks to win the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

On Thursday Earnhardt Jr. met with reporters at Charlotte to talk about his car and superheros.

Asked which one of Superman’s powers he would like to have, Earnhardt replied strength.

“Super-human strength would be the best one to have, I think,” Earnhardt Jr. said. “Being able to pick stuff up and throw it across the yard would be fun. You can impress your friends and show off for the ladies.

So what would Earnhardt Jr. do with his new found strength?

“Oh, I don’t know. Maybe me and my friends may just go to the junkyard and toss some cars around, because that would be harmless, right?”

It would also help control a car going speeds of 200-mph.

While Earnhardt Jr. said the car looked nice, he is already focusing on how it will run in the 600 mile race on Sunday – the longest on the Cup Series schedule.

“I just want to win a points race here so bad because we live right down the road here,” Earnhardt said. “I’ve been coming here since I was a little kid. I remember sitting up in the press box watching qualifying for the ’83 race and that was probably one of my first memories of going to a Cup event. Then once they built those condos over there in 1 and 2, we never missed a race.

“… We just always came here, and it’s frustrating that I haven’t won a race here other than the all-star event. We’ve had some good cars, but not nowhere near good enough. … Hopefully we can change that.”

Earnhardt has made 28 career starts at Charloote recording five top-fives and 11 finishes inside the top-ten.
