Swan Racing fields Toyota’s for Cole Whitt and Parker Kligerman in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. It is unclear if the two young drivers will be racing at Richmond International Raceway next weekend or not, due to sponsorship concerns.
The team released the following statement Tuesday afternoon on their Facebook:
“Swan Racing is in the process of reviewing its current situation and the ability to continue to compete in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. The team has been unable to secure the kind of sponsorship required to effectively operate the team. As a result, the team management is exploring every available option. We hope to be in position to provide a detailed update in the near future.”
Both Whitt and Kilgerman have made every Sprint Cup races thus far this season. Whitt saw sponsorship from Speed Stick Gear for the first four races but has been sponsorless since. Kligerman saw sponsorship from Lending Tree at Daytona, Arias Hotels at Las Vegas and minority owner 50 Cent’s company, SMS Audio at Texas and Darlington.
Swan Racing is owned by Brandon Davis and co-owned by Bill Romanowski and entrepreneur Anthony Marlowe.
Whitt is currently 33rd in points with his best finish coming at Fontana, where he finished 18th. Kligerman is 38th in the standings and hasn’t placed higher than 29th in any of the seasons first eight races, he has also failed to finish four races.
