Sam Hornish Jr. will replace Denny Hamlin in the No. 11 FedEx Toyota Camry at Auto Club Speedway. Hamlin is suffering from a sinus infection that was affecting his vision. He received a medical exemption from NASCAR that enabled the team to switch drivers.

It will be Hornish Jr’s first Sprint Cup race of the season. He is scheduled to drive a limited number of races for Joe Gibbs Racing in the Nationwide Series this season.

Hornish Jr. will be starting at the rear of the field due to the driver change.
