The @DaleJr handle on twitter has been reserved for years, yet it had never tweeted.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. had been one of just a handful of drivers who had stayed away from the social media site Twitter. Prior to the 2014 Daytona 500 he joked that he would join Twitter if he found victory lane in the famed race.
On Sunday he won the Daytona 500, and in the wee hours of Monday morning he sent out his first tweet.

Earnhardt is set to begin a circus of events which follows winning the Daytona 500. The 11-time NASCAR most popular driver has all but ensured himself a post season birth with his win.
We checked and Earnhardt had 221K followers immediately after winning the Daytona 500. That number has swelled to 243K.
