Steve Letarte will step down from his position as the crew chief of the No. 88 Chevrolet driven by Dale Earnhardt Jr at the conclusion of the 2014 season.

Latarte will assume a role at NBC beginning at 2015 according to Dave Moody.

Earnhardt and Letarte were first paired together in 2011. The duo claimed a race win at Michigan in 2012 and has been in the NASCAR Chase for the last three seasons. Earnhardt finished fifth in driver points in 2013.

Letarte is expected to join play-by-play announcer Rick Allen and driver Jeff Burton in the NBC booth when NASCAR returns to the network in 2015.

Hendrick Motorsporst began employing Letarte in 1995. He served as the crew chief of Jeff Gordon from 2005-2010 winning ten races.
