Jimmie Johnson may have won his sixth NASCAR Sprint Cup Series title in 2013 but fans prefer Tony Stewart to appear on their video games.
NASCAR has announced that Tony Stewart won a social media contest voted on by fans which will see the driver of the No. 14 Mobil/Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet appear on the cover of the upcoming NASCAR 14 video game.
Fans cast around 7000,000 votes in the “Driver for the Cover” campaign selecting the three-time Sprint Cup Series champion as the driver to appear on the game cover. The winner of last year’s contest – Dale Earnhardt Jr. – was ineligible to appear on the the cover.
Stewart is one of a few driver drivers who do not run a twitter account though his publicists run a Facebook page with more than 600,000 likes and @StewartHaasRcng had more than 150,000 followers on twitter.
In the final round of voting Stewart lapped four-time Series champion Jeff Gordon by scoring 69 percent of the vote.
