The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season has come to an end – and Jimmie Johnson has claimed his sixth Championship in the series. Fans have had multiple opinions on the setup of the 10-race Chase format to declare the Champion since its inclusion in NASCAR in 2004. As some years, going back by the classic point standings a driver different than the Chase winner would of taken home the trophy.
This season, with or without the Chase – Johnson would of been the 2013 Champion. After all was said and done, Johnson held a 41 point lead on second place Kevin Harvick according to the pre-Chase points format after Homestead.
Below are the official point standings without the Chase.
