UPDATE: Qualifying has been cancelled, Aric Almirola to start on pole and more

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series qualifying at Talladega Superspeedway is currently delayed due to rain in the area. As of 12:00pm/et, it continues to mist and drizzle at the track and there are more showers in the area that continue to cause problems.

NASCAR does have ‘Air Titan’ on hand this weekend at Talladega if it is needed.

The Camping World Truck Series race is scheduled for 4:00 pm/ET, which means qualifying can be delayed up to about 90 minutes before it is cancelled.

If qualifying is cancelled Sam Hornish, Jr. would miss the race.

At 1:00 pm ET NASCAR released the Air Titan to begin the process of drying the 2.66 mile Superspeedway.

A few minutes after giving the news NASCAR announced that qualifying had been cancelled awarding Aric Almirola the pole.
