Dale Earnhardt Jr. to make 500th Sprint Cup Series start

Dale Earnhardt Jr will be making his 500th career start in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series during Saturday nights race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Earnhardt has made 27 starts at Charlotte earning five finishes inside the top five. Earlier this year Earnhardt finished 39th after suffering engine issues on his No. 88 Chevrolet.

The first of Earnhardt’s 500 starts came in 1999 at Charlotte. In his career Earnhardt has 19 wins, 111 top fives, 199 top 10s and 13 poles.

Earnhardt will be attempting to become just the third driver to win in his 500th career start. Richard Petty won his 500th career start in 1970 while Matt Kenseth found victory lane three weeks ago at New Hampshire.
