Childers will head to Stewart Hass Racing for the 2014 season as
the crew chief of the No. 4 driven by Kevin Harvick. After
Saturday’s race at Bristol Motor Speedway, Childers employment at
Michael Waltrip Racing was terminated. Childers had been serving as
the crew chief of the No. 55 car which had been driven by Mark
Martin and Brian Vickers in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. With
Vickers assuming the seat fulltime next season and Childers leaving
the organization MWR figured it was best to go ahead and get ready
for the 2014 season 12 races early and parted ways with the veteran
crew chief. Childers had been a race winning crew chief three times
at MWR, most recently with Vickers at New Hampshire. MWR has yet to
make an announcement on who will be the crew chief of the No. 55
car for this Sunday’s night race at Atlanta. Vickers will drive the
car in 11 of the 12 remaining races with Michael Waltrip to race at
Talladega.
