Report: Mark Martin to drive Stewart’s No. 14 at SHR for rest of season

Sunday was likely Mark Martin, driver of the No. 55 Aaron’s Toyota for Michael Waltrip Racing’s last race for the team. Martin, who shared a ride with Brian Vickers this season is currently without a ride for 2014 as Vicker’s moves over to assume the No. 55 full time.

According to sources, Stewart-Haas Racing has worked to finalize a deal that would put Martin in the No. 14 Chevrolet for the injured Tony Stewart for most, if not the rest of, the season, beginning Saturday night at Bristol

Stewart is out indefinitely after breaking his leg in a sprint car crash on Aug. 5. Max Papis was behind the wheel in the No. 14 at Watkins Glen, and Austin Dillon drove the car at Michigan this past weekend.

Martin likely would drive in every race Stewart misses except for Talladega.  Dillon would likely fill in for that race.

An announcement is set for Monday afternoon, barring a last-minute objection from Aaron’s.

Vickers is expected to pick up most – if not all – of the races that Martin was to drive in the No. 55 for the rest of the 2013 season.
