Photos: Jeff Gordon driving Axalta paint scheme at Pocono

jeffgordon1  Jeff Gordon has piloted the No. 24 Chevrolet over 700 times in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. On Sunday at Pocono will mark the first time that Gordon will have Axalta on his car.

DuPont Performance Coatings was sold and re-branded as Axalta earlier this year but Gordon will be hoping for many of the same results.

Gordon won at Pojeffgordon3cono last August after rain ended the day early. A six time winner at Pocono, Gordon has finished outside the top-ten just twice in the last nine events there.

“This is our 21st year together,” said Gordon, referencing the longest sponsor/driver/team pairing in NASCAR. “They have been with us since my first race at Atlanta in 1992, and they have been the ‘Official Finish of NASCAR’ since 1994.

“It’s been a great relationship that continues to this day – the same people making the same great finishes just with a different name.”

Entering Sunday’s race at Pocono, Gordon sits in 11th in the Sprint Cup standings.
