The NASCAR Nationwide Series will run its eighth event of the season on Saturday at Talladega Superspeedway. Travis Pastrana will lead a field of 40 cars to the green flag for the Aarons 312It is the first pole in the career of Pastrana and the first Nationwide Series pole at Talladega for a Roush Fenway Racing driver.
Saturday’s race will be a total of 311.22 miles or 117 laps around the 2.66 mile track, the longest on the NASCAR schedule.

Coverage of the race will begin at 2:30 pm EST on ESPN with the green flag set to drop at 3:18 pm EST.
The series currently has a tight points battle with Sam Hornish holding a one point lead over Regan Smith.

John Wes Townley and Stanton Barrett both failed to qualify for the race.
Townley originally qualified 10th for the race but his time was disallowed after his car was found to be too low in post qualifying inspection. Zaxby’s sponsorship has moved to the No. 10 car and Townely was to drive the car but he is sore after being involved in a crash during Friday’s ARCA race.
