Denny Hamlin will not return to action at Richmond International Raceway on Sunday. Hamlin has been out of action since a last lap crash at Fontana involving former teammate Joey Logano.

After missing the last three races Hamlin has sunk to 26th in the driver standings.

On Wednesday night he let fans know that he would not return to action at Richmond via twitter.

“Unfortunately I won’t be racing this weekend at Richmond. It kills me to not be in the car for my team and sponsors but after long discussions with the doctors we have decided to wait on my return back to racing. Thanks to all of my fans who have sent encouraging messages over the last month. I’ll be back in no time.”

Hamlin had hoped to return to action at Richmond, his home track and one he has enjoyed success at. In 14 races at Richmond he has 2 wins, 7 top-fives, and 9 top-ten finishes.

After Richmond the next race is Talladega. It was annouced last week that Hamlin would not complete the full race at Talladega.
