When the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series heads to Richmond Denny Hamlin wants to be back behind the wheel. Hamlin who was initially ruled out for six weeks is hopeful that he will be behind the wheel of the No. 11 for the April 27th event.

Returning at Richmond would be two weeks earlier this first reported. Hamlin’s eventual return will be dictated by doctors.

Hamlin will be at Martinsville in support of driver Mark Martin who will drive the No. 11 Toytoa this week. Brian Vickers will assume Hamlin’s seat in future races.

Nearly two weeks away from racing has done little to change the thoughts of the 32-year-old Hamlin who still is unhappy about what happened at Auto Club Speedway.

“How is it not intentional? It’s not like he got loose because I took air off him,” Hamlin told USA Today. “I saw him getting closer, and I moved up the track. He was just going to keep going until he ran into us. Whatever happened after that, I’m sure he didn’t mean to wreck or get me hurt, but he meant to run into us, there’s no doubt.”
