Kyle Busch won the pole for Sunday’s race, the Food City 500, at Bristol Motor Speedway. The race is NASCAR’s fourth of the 2013 season.
Busch broke Bristol’s record with a best time of 14.81 seconds. (Lap speed of 129.535) Kasey Kahne scored the outside pole position and will start alongside him. It is Busch’s 11th career pole, first at Bristol.
Scott Riggs, driving for XXXtreme Motorsport did not make the race.
A.J Almendinger is in the No.51 this weekend, while Brian Vickers is driving the No. 55 Aaron’s Dream Machine for Michael Waltrip Racing instead of Mark Martin. Another note for Bristol is you will see two cars with NAPA Auto Parts paint schemes, as Clint Bowyer will forgo his usual 5-Hour Energy scheme to help promote NAPA this month.
The two Rookie of the Year candidates, Danica Patrick qualified in the 41st position, while Ricky Stenhouse Jr. qualified in 28th position.
