Michael Waltrip will race in the 55th running of the Daytona 500. Waltrip, a two-time winner of the event, raced his way into the race by finishing xx in the first Budweiser Duel on Thursday afternoon.
It will be the 50th time Waltrip has raced at Daytona. He has three wins at the track including wins in the Daytona 500 in 2001 and 2003.
Waltrip will be driving the No. 26 Toyota of Swan Racing. The car will pay respects to the victims of the Sandy Hook shooting in Newton, CT. Fans can text Newton to 80888 to donate $10 to the Sandy Hook Support Fund.
NASCAR CEO Brian France announced that he and his wife would be donating $50,000 to the fund, which will be matched by the NASCAR foundation.
