Darrell Wallace Jr. to compete in NASCAR Truck series in 2013

Darrell Wallace Jr. will compete full time in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series for Kyle Busch Motorsports in 2013.

Wallace, who is 19 years old will drive the No.54 Toyota. He drove in four Nationwide Series races for Joe Gibbs Racing in 2012 and had three top 10s. His worst finish was 12th.

Wallace is only the fourth black driver in history to compete full time in NASCAR with the others being Wendell Scott, Willy Ribbs and Bill Lester.

An official announcement is forthcoming, scheduled for Saturday at the NASCAR Hall of Fame according to a person with knowledge of the situation that is not permitted to discuss details prior to the news conference.

Wallace’s first race will be February 22 at Daytona International Speedway.
