Bill Elliott retiring? Says last year was enough

Bill Elliott has not completed the full NASCAR Sprint Cup Series since 2003. Last season Elliott, 57, ran two races. Nicknamed “Awesome Bill from Dawsonville” Elliott was a popular driver though the 80’s and 90’s.

While Elliott stopped being a weekly competitor he had no qualms about getting into a car for an underfunded team in recent years in order to guarantee them a starting spot in a field. That trend is not expected to continue.

In a recent interview with Bristol Motor Speedway, Elliott was asked if he would continue to race.

Elliott’s 44th and final win came in 2003 at Rockingham when the series was still known as the Winston Cup.
