Phoenix Racing is still finalizing the details for their 2013 Sprint Cup Series ride. Regan Smith and A.J. Allmendinger are expected to share time behind the wheel of the No. 51 car.

The team also hopes to field a Nationwide Series car for Kurt Busch.

Busch spent the 2012 season driving the No. 51 car before he left for Furniture Row Racing. During their time together Busch scored a season best third place finish at Sonoma and won the Nationwide Series race at Daytona in July.

“We’re going to meet with Kurt Busch about driving our Nationwide car while we’re down testing (this week),” general manager Steve Barkdoll told the Sporting News.

“We would love to have him in the car and we’re going to meet with him down there. … In all three of the (races that use) restrictor plates, we really had a chance of winning so we’d certainly like to get him back in the car.”

As was the case last season, Phoenix Racing is still working on sponsorship to field the car. They will continue to use Hendrick engines.
