Homestead: NASCAR green flag start time, pole and starting lineup

It’s the last race of the season, the drivers are at Homestead-Miami Speedway for the running of the Ford EcoBoost 400. Joey Logano was on the pole until an accident during final  practice forced him, along with Greg Biffle and Denny Hamlin to back up cars, subsequently moving them to the back of the field. Because of this, the inside row will all move up one row, allowing Brad Keselowski to start at the front of the field. However, Marcos Ambrose will lead the field to green.

Keselowski is chasing his first title – as he starts the race 20 points ahead of five time champion Jimmie Johnson. Johnson will start the race from the 10th position.

Captain Jonathan Hillstrand from the Deadliest Catch, which airs on the Discovery Channel will give the command to fire engines at 3:11 p.m.

The races green flag start time is set for 3:18p.m EST. The race is 267 laps, 400 miles. The track has called home to NASCAR’s “Ford Championship Weekend” in all three series since 2002.

Who to watch at Homestead? It’s no doubt that all eyes will be on Keselowski and Johnson as they battle it out to take home the Sprint Cup, but there are other drivers that have the potential to pull off a win at Homestead.

Carl Edwards is still looking for his first win of the season, after losing the championship to Tony Stewart, one year ago. The good news for Edwards though, is he is really good at Homestead, with an average finish of 5.2, and is starting the race fourth.

Martin Truex Jr. is another driver that has come close on multiple occasions, but still has not found himself in victory lane. Truex qualified in the seventh starting position.

Clint Bowyer, after last weekend would love to find himself in the winners circle one last time before seasons end. Bowyer is starting right ahead of Truex Jr, in the sixth starting position.
