Earnhardt Ganassi switching to Hendrick engines for 2013

The joint venture between Earnhardt Ganassi and Richard Childress Racing to build engines is over. In 2013 EGR will lease motors from Hendrick Motorsports. Both organizations have struggled to contend for victories this season.

Richard Childress says he was not surprised by the news according to a report from SB Nation. “It won’t affect us in any way,” Childress said. Furniture Row Racing also gets its engines from RCR. Childress also says he has a few other teams interested in motors.

Earnhardt Ganassi fields two cars in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, the No. 1 driven by Jamie McMurray and the No. 42 of Juan Pablo Montoya. Both drivers will return to ERG next season though the team is still working on sponsorship for the No. 1 car in some races.
