Quicken Loans to run as primary sponsor for Ryan Newman in 2013

Ryan Newman, driver of the No.39 Chevrolet for Stewart Haas Racing was hit hard earlier this year when the ARMY announced they were leaving NASCAR. Newman, who was in a contract year didn’t know if he would be staying at SHR or looking for another ride. Stewart was adamant about resigning Newman and with some faith they went ahead and did just that.

Still with no concrete full time sponsorship for Newman, Stewart would only say they were in negotiations and remained optimistic.

Stewart was hit with another blow when Office Depot, Stewart’s primary sponsor announced they would not be back in 2013. This left Stewart, as a team owner and driver with a lot on his shoulders, running for another championship and looking for the golden egg in a time in which sponsorship is hard to come by, especially full time sponsorship. Top tier teams such as Roush Fenway Racing have even struggled to have all of their races sponsored this season.

It was announced today that Quicken Loans, who has been primary sponsor on Newman’s car for nine races this season will be doubling their races next season to eighteen, becoming Newman’s full primary sponsor taking on more than half of the races. When they are not a primary sponsor they will still be featured on his car. They will also stay as an associate sponsor on the No.14 Chevrolet of Stewart.

This still leaves a lot of questions as to who will take on the remaining races for Newman and then the question in itself as to who will take on the sponsorship for Stewart and the No.14 .

Bass Pro Shops name has been thrown out there possibly sponsoring the No.14 but no announcement regarding them or Stewart has been made as of yet, but an announcement could be made towards the end of the week.
