Busch says move to Furniture Row Racing is "not lateral"

Kurt Busch is excited about his prospects for 2013. The former NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Champion will take over the seat of the No. 78 Chevrolet for Furniture Row Racing at Charlotte.

Busch defended his decision to join Furniture Row Racing by noting the stark difference between their equipment and that of his current team, Phoenix Racing.

“Everybody knows this 78 car has much more potential in it,” Busch said. “The 51 is running equipment that’s four years old, 2008 stuff. It’s very obvious why to me this is not a lateral move.”

“He brought his talents down to Miami and won a championship down there, so I’m going to use that motivation.” Busch then jokingly said “I’m going to take my talents to Denver and bring the championship out there, alright?”

Smith currently is 23rd in Sprint Cup driver points with two top 10s this year. Busch is 25th in points with twp top 10’s and a best finish of third at Sonoma.

Busch also said he has selected Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper as his new “Zenmaster. “I’m really looking up to Bryce Harper. He’s so wise. He told the media no more clown questions.”

Furniture Row Racing has a technical alliance with Richard Childress Racing.
