Greg Biffle will be a contender for NASCAR championship

Greg Biffle is currently third in the NASCAR Sprint Cup standings. Biffle trails teammate Matt Kenseth and Hendrick driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. It is a contrast to last season when Biffle finished 16th in the points after an unproductive season with only ten top ten finishes, three top five finishes and no wins.

Half way through last season, Crew Chief (CC) Greg Erwin was replaced with Matt Puccia who has been with Roush Fenway Racing as part of their Research and Development Team since 2004.  Up until becoming Biffle’s crew chief, Puccia had been a CC for Paul Menard in the Nationwide Series leading the #98 to 19 top ten finishes. He has also been a CC for Carl Edwards and David Ragan in the Craftsman Truck Series.

Just in the first half of this season Biffle has already had eleven top tens, nine top fives and a win that came at Texas Motor Speedway. Biffle’s place in NASCAR’s post season seems relatively safe as he is 54 points ahead of 10th place Brad Keselowski.

It is showing that the Crew Chief change was a positive move for the #16 Roush Fenway Team. Alongside Puccia, Biffle has an outstanding Pit Crew which are dubbed the “3M PitBulls”. Together they not only have the tools to make the Chase but could bring a Sprint Cup Series Championship to Roush Fenway Racing.
