Kurt Busch made headlines again this weekend for the wrong reasons. Today NASCAR has punished the driver for verbal abuse to a media member following his words to reporter Bob Pockrass following a fourth place run in Saturday’s Nationwide race.

This comes after Busch had been placed on probation and fined $50,000 after during a burnout though Ryan Newman’s pitstall at Darlington. In addition to the suspension for the coming weekend the probation of Busch has been extended to the end of the year.

Busch is currently driving for Phoenix Racing on a one year deal after he parted ways with Penske Racing following a tumultuous season that was highlighted by rants on the team radio and multiple incidents with reporters, the last of which was directed at Dr. Jerry Punch during the season finale at Homestead. Busch was fined $50,000 for the incident with Punch and parted ways with Penkse a week later.

The 2004 series champion had been working to “to put the fun back into racing” and has been working with girlfriend Patricia Driscoll in efforts to support the Armed Forces Foundation. Driscoll serves as the president and executive director of the organization.

In additon to driving the #51 Chevrolet for Phoenix Racing in the Sprint Cup Series, Kurt Busch has been driving the #54 Monster Energy Toyota for his brother Kyle Busch in the Nationwide Series.
