Germain Racing will have Ford power in 2012

When 2011 ended Germain Racing knew they were facing a switch of manufacturers. On Friday owner Bob Germain announced that the organization will field Fords for NASCAR Sprint Cup driver Casey Mears in 2012.

Germain has won two NASCAR Camping World Truck Series titles with Todd Bodine and a total of 22 races in that series.

“The Germains have a long history with Ford Motor Co.,” Germain said. “My grandfather worked with Henry Ford as an accountant and my father worked as a guide in the Henry Ford Museum. Our family currently owns and operates both Ford and Lincoln dealerships and we have many friends at Ford Motor Company. I’m excited to join the Ford Racing team.”

Germain Racing will again receive sponsorship dollars from Geico and has agreements in place to purchase engines from Roush Yates Engines.

After failing to make the Daytona 500, Mears was able to qualify the #13 car for the 35 races during the 2011 season. Their best finish was 12th place run at Martinsville.
