FINALLY! Ambrose makes all the right turn

Marcos Ambrose has been trying to concur the North American tracks of the NASCAR Sprint Cup series for years only to suffer heartaches. While Ambrose had found his way to victory lane in the lower level Nationwide Series never had the Aussie been first in a Sprint Cup race. The biggest heartache came last year when he opted to try and save fuel while leading on the road course out in Sonoma, California.

Ambrose was originally entered in both NASCAR races this weekend. He was scheduled to drive a Nationwide entry for Richard Petty Motorsports but the team withdrew the entry the day before the event. Ambrose was bidding to win his fourth straight Nationwide race at the Glen. When asked about the withdraw he struggled to find comfort in being the fastest in final Cup practice.

Instead Ambrose said that the Nationwide race was his race. He stated his disappointment with not being in the race and said he’d do anything but watch the race.

While Ambrose may have been mad about the race he would no longer win there was still one more race that he could win. He did it. In his 105th career start at the Cup level he found victory lane for the first time.

On a race delayed a day by rain on Sunday that was even questionable if it would go the full distance on Monday one man found all of it worth it.
