Bayne to run half season with Wood Brothers?

It’s looking more and more likely that Trevor Bayne will run a significant portion of the 2011 Sprint Cup Series in the #21 Wood Brothers ride.

Bayne made his Cup debut in the #21 Wood Brothers Ford during the fall race at Texas. He finished 17th.

Bayne raced for Michael Waltrip Racing to start the 2009 season and even made a bit of a name for himself with 4 poles but was let go due to sponsorship concerns. He was almost immediately signed to a contract by Roush-Fenway Racing and placed into the #17 ride to finish out the season. He ended the year 8th in Nationwide point standings.

Word around the garage is that if the Wood Brothers get enough sponsorship to fill out the car Bayne could see time in as many as 17 races in 2011.

Currently he is scheduled to drive in the #21 during the Daytona 500 as well as the seasons next four events.
