The days of Ike Davis being an everyday option at first base re just about over. On Thursday the Pirates designed the 27-year-old for assignment following a season in which he hit .233/.344/.378 with 11 home runs and 51 RBI over 143 games between the Mets and Pirates.
Davis will now get an early start on his look for a new team. A week ago he was said to be learning the play in the outfield in an attempt to increase his versatility and playing time.
