The Washington Nationals have designated utility man Greg Dobbs for assignment.
Dobbs was moved off the Nationals 40-man roster so that the team could add Taylor Hill. He has hit just .171/.186/.195 over 43 plate appearances for the Nationals and Miami Marlins. He will now seek a minor league contract else where.
Pitcher Christian Garcia has been released. The often injured pitcher made 10 minor league appearances posting 2.45 ERA and a 0.88 WHIP but has been on the disabled list recently and it is unclear when he will be healthy.
Jeff Kobernus has been activated from the 60-day disabled list. He has been optioned to Triple-A Syracuse where he will rejoin a .246/.352/.311 line.
