The Marlins signed switch pitcher Pat Venditte to a minor league deal on Friday.
Venditte’s deal with the Marlins includes an invitation to spring training where he will attempt to make the 26-man roster.
Thus far in his stops at the big league level Venditte has struggled to the tune of a 5.03 ERA and a 1.31 WHIP across 68 big league innings spread across four years dating back to 2015.
MLB has a new reliever rule this season where the pitcher is required to pitch to three batters or get the final out of the inning which could make the Marlins decision to sign Venditte interesting as his ability to switch throwing arms may be more utilized.
