Texas Rangers designated hitter Lance Berkman participated in batting practice on Monday.
Berkman has been sidelined since July 7 as he is fighting inflammation in his left hip.
The return of Berkman could be anytime. He is already past the point where the Rangers can activate him from the disabled list and the switch hitter does not seem interested in going on a rehab assignment. On Sunday Berkman ran on a treadmill.
“Just whenever I can do the things pain free is the goal,” Berkman said.
Berkman is hitting .254 with six home runs and 34 RBIs this season.
