The Oakland Athletics will be without infielder Scott Sizemore for the rest of the season. Sizemore tore his ACL in Tuesday game against the Angels. Sizemore missed all of 2012 with the same injury.
Sizemore went 1-for-6 with a double in two games before the injury.
Melvin texted Sizemore and was visibly shaken when relaying news to reporters. “Just awful … It’s devastating. We’re thinking about him.”

To take Sizemore’s spot on the roster, Oakland recalled versatile infielder/outfielder Andy Parrino from Triple-A Sacramento.
Parrino and Eric Sogard will share duties at second base.
