Kyffin Simpson scored the pole for Sunday’s running of the Indy NXT by Firestone GP at Road America. Simpson’s time of 1:49.1028 bested the field of 19.
Matteo Nannini would bring out a late red flag which would cause his fast time to be removed. The removal dropped Nannini from a second place starting spot to 12th. After the incident officials opted to extend qualifying to allow all drivers to take one fast lap.
Simpson was the fastest in Friday’s practice session. The fastest driver from Saturday’s practice session was Hunter McElrea, he will start 13th.
Points leader Christian Rasmussen will start the race seventh while his nearest challenge Nolan Siegel starts fourth. Siegel enters the day just two points behind Rasmussen for the championship.
The Indy NXT race at Road America will air on Peacock Sunday, June 17,beginning at 11:10 am ET.
