Simon Sikes wins USF 2000 Race No. 1 at Road America, Results

Simon Sikes won the first of two USF 2000 races at Road America on Saturday.

Lochie Hughes began the race on the pole at the newly paved 14-turn track that measures just over four miles around but it would be Simon Sikes quickly getting to the front of the field. The first caution of the day came early with two cars going off in turn three.

On the restart Hughes would suffer rear wing damage further hampering his day. The second caution of the day came out just before midway. On the restart several cars would go off the track including Mac Clark allowing Hughes to catch up with a repaired wing.

Hughes entered the day four paints ahead of Sikes in the points, however with Sikes’ win and Hughes issues the points have since changed with Sikes now ahead of Hughes.

The win is the third of the season for Sikes.
