Will Power, upset with practice, calls Romain Grosjean a “piece of crap”

Will Power shows his displeasure towards Scott Dixon following a crash at Road America on June 17, 2023.

Will Power did not have the best practice session on Saturday. While anyone could hardly fault Power for being upset after an errant turn of the wheel by Scott Dixon left both drivers with heavy damage, it was an earlier incident that may have given the soundbite of the weekend.

Speaking to reporters Power said he was disappointed with practice before adding “Grosjean is a piece of crap if you saw what he did in practice. He needs a punch in the face.”

Power’s dissatisfaction with Grosjean stems from earlier in Saturday’s practice session when Grosjean, either blocking or just unaware, forces Power to go off track briefly.

Neither Grosjean (19th), Power (22nd), or Dixon (23rd) advanced out of the first round of qualifying and will all start near each other at the back of the field for Sunday’s running of the Sonsio Grand Prix at Road America.

Colton Herta scored the pole for the race which will air on USA and Peacock beginning at 1:00 pm ET.
