Report: Brian Cushing to have MRI today, torn ACL feared

UPDATE: The MRI has confirmed that Cushing suffered a torn ACL.

Houston Texans middle linebacker, Brian Cushing suffered a knee injury in yesterdays Texans/Jets football game.

The Houston Chronicle is reporting he suffered a torn ACL when he was rolled on a questionable block by New York guard Matt Slauson early in the second quarter of the Texans’ closer-than-it should’ve been 23-17 win over the Jets.

An MRI is scheduled for today when the Texans get back home to confirm Houston’s worst fears.

Many are wondering how the Texans will survive losing what many claim to be the “heart and soul” of the their defense.

“I don’t really know what happened,’’ Coach Gary Kubiak said. “They tell me he got caught on a play and his foot might’ve gotten stuck in the turf. Obviously, that’s crisis No. 1. We’ll take him home and get it looked at. Obviously, we’re very concerned. Let’s sit here and hope for the best.’’

The Texans beat the Jets during the 666th running of the Monday Night Football to keep their undefeated season alive.

Lineback on the Green Bay Packers, Clay Matthews spoke out on Twitter about the injury:
