Tony Stewart Will Not be Penalized After Helmet Toss at Bristol

Tony Stewart driver of the No.14 Mobil 1 Chevrolet had passed Roush Fenway driver Matt Kenseth on the restart on lap 332, the two were racing hard when Stewart slipped up a little and  Kenseth tried to regain the lead, moments later they got into each other. The wreck essentially ended both of their nights.

NASCAR which has been more lenient with drivers the last couple seasons; letting drivers take things into their own hands somewhat has said they will not penalize Stewart after his helmet toss at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Moments after the wreck, after he had climbed out of his car, Stewart scanned the cars under caution looking for Kenseth… and when he found him going down pit road, he threw his helmet at the No.17 Vavoline Next Gen car.  Stewart had great aim, hitting the front of Kenseth’s hood directly.

If you remember,  the sanctioning body did not penalize Camping World Truck Series driver Todd Bodine for throwing his helmet at another competitor’s vehicle earlier this month at Pocono.

Good thing Stewart didn’t really care about the helmet from previous comments after the race as NASCAR did confiscate the helmet.
