John Wes Townley to make NASCAR Sprint Cup Debut at Pocono

John Wes Townley will be driving the No.32 Ford of FAS Lane Racing this weekend for the Pennsylvina 400 at Pocono Raceway. The car will carry sponsorship from Zaxby’s Chicken.

This will be Townley’s first career start in the Sprint Cup Series, the top level of NASCAR. He had been driving the No. 09 truck for RAB Racing in the Camping World Truck Series (CWTS).

He was running for Rookie of the Year honors in the CWTS  but started the season late after a DUI in February. Thus far he has made nine starts in the CWTS in which his best finish was 14th at Chicagoland Speedway. He has also made three starts in the Nationwide Series, with his best finish being 15th at the Spring race at Talladega Super Speedway.

Townley’s career stats are not that great. In the Nationwide Series alone he has raced in 41 events since 2008. His average finish is 26.2. He has no wins and no top ten finishes. He raced in the CWTS in 2008 as well as this year, in 22 career starts he has nothing but a 22.3 average finish to show for it.
