Tommy Baldwin cars swaps drivers, Blaney in #35

Dave Blaney has spent the better part of three years running fast laps in ualifying for under funded race teams. While Blaney had been allowed to run full races in cars supplied from his current employer, Tommy Baldwin Racing, the teams expansion has again put the 49 year old in the go or go home group this weekend.

Tommy Baldwin Racing today announced that they were switching Blaney from the #36 to the #35 in order to guarantee Geoff Bodine a starting spot for Sunday’s race at Texas. The reason is simple. Bodine has made the field for just one of the five events he has attempted. Blaney on the other hand qualified for the first five events of the season and then was locked into the top-35 in owner points. He did fail to qualify for the road course race at Watkins Glen when he was moved to the #35 in order to guarantee Ron Fellows a starting spot.

Another side note worth mentioning is that if either driver finishes inside the top-10 then kids will eat free at Golden Corral. Golden Corral moves it’s sponsorship to the #35 driven by Blaney for the actual event. Thus far Blaney has one top-10 this year, that coming two weeks ago at Talladega.

It’s unclear as of right now if both drivers will attempt to run the full race for the remaining three events on the schedule.
