Noelle Pikus-Pace entered the final run of the Women’s Skeleton in second place. Pikus-Pace of Provo, Utah finished her fourth run with a time of 58.28to finish with a total time of 3:53.86 and claim a silver medal.
The 31-year-old mother of two has come back from a career threatening injury, a miscarriage and even retirement. After completing her run she jumped into the crowd to celebrate with her husband and children.
Elizabeth Yarnold, 25, of Great Britain entered the Olympics ranked No. 1 and she proved that to be true on Friday claiming the gold. She becomes the second straight British woman to win the event following behind the now-retired Amy Wiliams.
Elena Nikittina of Russia finished third to get the bronze.
Katie Uhlaender, 29, of Vail, Colorado finished the event fourth after starting the final round from the fifth spot.
