Ahmad Brooks, 29, is the latest NFL player to have his name surface for behavior off the field. Brooks allegedly assaulted teammate Lamar Divens on June 8.

According to reports the linebacker struck Divens, a nose tackle, three times in the head with a beer bottle and then punched him in the face. During the attack Brooks alleged to asked Divens, “Do I need to get my (expletive deleted) gun?”

Divens required three stitches after the attack which started after an argument over car keys.

Initially Divens wanted to press charges but has since changed his mind. Rookies Mike Purcell and Lawrence Okoye are also said to have witness the attacks.

The warrant is currently put on hold while the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office debate whether he should be charged with a felony, a misdemeanor or not at all.

This is not the first time that Brooks has been accused of assault. In 2008 the 6-feet-4 Brooks was accused of punching a woman in the face. Brooks also has had trouble dating back to his time at the University of Virginia.

The 49ers signed Brooks to a six-year contract worth $44.5 million last year.

The warrant is currently put on hold while the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office debate whether he should be charged with a felony, a misdemeanor or not at all.

The decision by District Attorney Jeff Rosen over whether to pursue the case as line prosecutors desire could have a major impact on Brooks’ career and team.
