Martellus Bennett catches falling fan

New York Giants tight end Martellus Bennett may have made his best play of Sunday when he caught a fan falling from the stands. The Giants were leaving the field after soundly defeating the Green Bay Packers when Bennett attempted to give his gloves to a kid.

At that time a middle-aged man leaned over the kid and fell over the protective railing and onto Bennett.

“I just did what any superhero would do: Saved his life,” Bennett said. “(Shoot). I’m like Scott Summers. You know who Scott Summers is? Cyclops off X-Men.”

So exactly what was Bennett’s secret to catching a falling fan?

“My first instinct was to step back, like, ‘Oh, (shoot),’ but I did the righteous thing … So I caught him and then and slowly tried to pull him down, but then I tripped over somebody and we all fell.”

Bennett said he fell on the cameraman but was not injured in the catch or trip.

“I felt like Prince, because everybody was like, ‘You OK? You OK?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, I’m fine.’ They were helping me up.”

During the game against the Packers Bennett caught three passes for 44 yards.
