Bears: Jay Cutler still our QB

Jay Cutler is still the quarterback of the Chicago Bears when healthy.

Against a porous Dallas secondary backup Josh McCown had a field day completing 27 of 36 passes for 348 yards and four touchdowns, plus one rushing touchdown. Not quite enough to move up the depth chart says Bears head coach Marc Trestman.

“There’s no change in the plan,” Trestman said. “We’ll see where Jay is this week. He’ll have to be released by the doctors. When Jay is ready to play, he’ll be playing.”

A groin tear and high ankle sprain have kept the 30-year-old Cutler out of five games. He becomes a free agent at season end.

“When (Cutler) is good to go and can have a full week of practice, he’ll be our quarterback,” Trestman said.
