Ravens middle linebacker spoke with his teammates on Wednesday. During that time the 17-year veteran told his peers that “this will be my last ride.”
Soon after talking to his teammates Lewis went and notified the press of his decision.
Baltimore will host Indianapolis in a Wild Card game on Sunday. Lewis is expected to play in that game, having worked his way back from a triceps tear.
During Lewis’ career he was a 13-time Pro Bowler, a top-time Defensive Player of the Year and was the MVP of Super Bowl XXXV.
The future of Ravens safety Ed Reed has to be wondered about as well but in this instance we simply recall the dominating force Lewis was in the middle of the field for so long.
How much time Lewis plays in Sunday’s game is unknown.
