Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback A.J. McCarron had surgery on his toe Thursday to fix an infection.

The senior quarterback will play in Saturday’s game against Virgina Tech.

McCarron had a toe nail removed and later showed up in a walking boot in Atlanta, site of today’s game. Naturally this caused an uproar on social media but according to reports there is no concern amongst Alabama.

Former Crimson Tide running back Eddie Lacy wore a walking boot his entire final season and played in every game.

Alabama’s quest for an unrepresented third straight National Championship begins at 5:30 pm on ESPN in the Georgia Dome.
