The South Carolina Gamecocks could be without junior DE Jadeveon Clowney in their season opener.
Clowney has a bruised shoulder.
“If (Clowney’s shoulder) doesn’t come around real soon, we may play without him the first game,” head coach Steve Spurrier told the media. “We’ve got a bunch of hurt guys who act like they are really hurt so right now they may not play.”
South Carolina is also dealing with hamstring injuries to receivers Bruce Ellington and Damiere Byrd.

Spurrier then told media that he would handle the situation and in tune with what he has said during practice suggested that the team was more than one or two players.
“All I’m trying to say, if they can’t play, we got plenty of guys who can play, so we’re not depending on them.”
South Carolina’s first game is Thursday Aug. 29 against North Carolina. They play Georgia the following week.
