Jeff Gordon won the pole in qualifying for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Richmond International Raceway.
The Federated Auto Parts 400 will be held Saturday night at the 3/4 mile Richmond International Raceway. A total of 43 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series cars will take the green flag for the 400 lap race which consists of 300 miles.
Alongside Gordon on the front row will be Kurt Busch. The lone driver who failed to make the event was Mike Bliss.
Currently six drivers are locked into NASCAR Chase spots and after Saturday nights race at Richmond the field of 12 will be set.
THE CHASE: CHASE SCENARIOS FOR RICHMOND
Coverage of Saturday nights race will air on ABC beginning at 7:30 pm ET with the green flag scheduled to drop at 7:44 pm ET.
Regan Smith qualified for Jimmie Johnson, who opted to skip qualifying after his wife gave birth early Friday. Johnson will have to drop to the back of the pack to start Saturday nights race.
